- The National Endowment for the Humanities awarded The HistoryMakers a $167,000 grant for the establishment of an in depth Summer Institute for 25 of the nation’s top high school teachers on the subject of African American political history.
- The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation awarded a $15,000 grant to establish an interactive exhibit entitled Agents of Change on the street level of The HistoryMakers’ office in Chicago’s South Loop.
- The HistoryMakers is awarded a $5,000 technical assistance grant from The Field Foundation and a $500,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs.
